Keynote speakers
Fabrizio De Vico Fallani

Paris Brain Spine Insitute (ICM)

The multidisciplinary NERV lab unites the fields of clinical neuroscience, complex systems and biomedical engineering to improve our understanding of the structural and functional organization of the human brain in health and disease.

Their approach focuses on the “analysis and modelling of brain functioning from a systems perspective” with potential applications ranging from the study of brain diseases such as Alzheimer’s, to the development of brain-computer interfaces.

Varun Venkataramani

University Hospital Heidelberg

The Venkatarmani Lab is dedicated to innovating at the interface of cancer and neuroscience, as they strive to establish neuroscience-instructed cancer therapies in oncology.

Their research is specifically concerned with “advancing therapies of yet incurable brain cancers by investigating neural mechanisms of glioblastoma”, as they have discovered the role of the brain tumor cellular network in the proliferation of cancer cells.

Ileana-Cristina Benea-Chelmus

École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL)

The Hybrid Photonics Laboratory at EPFL tackles questions revolving around quantum sensing and metrology on ultra-fast time-scales, as well as the generation and synthesis of far-infrared waveforms at will.

For this, we research coherent electro-optic interfaces with the latest integrated photonics technology and nano-optics, to develop electronic-photonic chips for applications in fundamental and applied sciences.

Manon E.B. Sabot

Max Planck Inst. for Biogeochemistry

The Climate and Plant Ecophysiology (CAPE) group is dedicated to researching how plants function, respond to environmental change, and affect the environment around them.

They aspire to inform global model development efforts for the development of climate models, by proposing new process formulations grounded in theory and probed by field measurements, manipulation experiments, and large observational databases.
