Venue

The Young Scientist Symposium 2024 (YSS24)  is hosted by the Institute of Science & Technology Austria (ISTA). ISTA is a young international institute dedicated to basic research and graduate education in the natural and mathematical sciences, is located on the outskirts of Vienna, in Klosterneuburg.

This year the event will be held in the Moonstone building, marked on a map of campus here.

Getting to ISTA

ISTA Shuttle Bus Nr.142

ISTA provides a shuttle bus from Vienna, stopping once at Klosterneuberg-Stadtplatz en route. Find the shuttle bus timetable here.

By public transport

  1. By metro, take the U4 to Heiligenstadt (the last stop). Alternatively, take the D tram or find other bus or S-bahn options.
  2. Take the shuttle bus 142 or VOR bus 400. See the map below for the location of the bus stops. Tickets for the 400 bus are available to buy on board or using the VOR AnachB app.

 

By bike

From Wien Nußdorf to ISTA is 12km, with two-thirds of the route along the Danube and mostly flat. Except for a short stretch of about 200 metres, one can avoid busy roads and stay on bike paths.

  1. Take the bicycle line from Vienna to the train station Klosterneuburg-Kierling.
  2. From Klosterneuburg follow the suggested bicycle trail to ISTA or use the route by Bike Citizens.
  3. From ISTA follow the suggested bicycle trail back to Klosterneuburg.

By car

  1.  Leave Vienna city center via Donaukanal Bundesstrasse (B227) in the direction Nordbrücke.
  2. Exit B227 before reaching Nordbrücke and take Klosterneuburger Bundesstrasse (B14) until you reach Klosterneuburg.
  3.  Follow the ISTA signs along the B14 from Klosterneuburg towards Tulln through Kierling until you reach Maria Gugging. Alternatively take the bypass road, follow the ISTA sign at the final roundabout and turn right onto B14 towards Tulln. Follow the B14 from Klosterneuburg through Kierling until you reach Maria Gugging.
  4. Turn right at the roundabout after the place-name sign for Maria Gugging.
